About Banking Stats AU
Banking Stats AU is an independent data project that turns APRA's published statistics into clear, comparable charts of Australian banks' lending, deposits and balance sheets. It is not affiliated with APRA or any bank, and nothing here is financial advice.

Caveats you should know
- MADIS exclusion: credit unions/building societies with assets under $200m are not in MADIS, so market share here is share of MADIS reporters, not APRA's full published system total.
- Domestic books: APRA figures are unconsolidated (Level 1) domestic books and may not reconcile with banks' consolidated annual reports.
- Funding proxy: MADIS publishes no per-bank total-liabilities column. Our "funding proxy" = total deposits + short/long-term borrowings + NCDs + acceptances + intra-group deposits, and is labelled a proxy everywhere.
- Mergers break series: merged predecessors end and successors start; we never silently splice. Optional pro-forma combined histories may be added later, clearly labelled.
- Revisions: APRA revises history; the pipeline always re-ingests the full back-series.
- Foreign branches are wholesale/institutional operations with no local capital in APRA's quarterly file; treat retail comparisons involving them with care.
